>>Driver Training Plus (DTP) is an Australian Capital Territory (ACT) based Heavy Vehicle Driver Training business whose primary function is to assist current Transport Industry Drivers or those wishing to enter the Road Transport Industry.

Whether you wish to gain your Heavy Vehicle Licence or upskill to a higher class we can help you. The Road Transport Freight task is increasing dramatically every year and the future for employment within the Road Transport Industry has never been better.

We can provide training in your vehicle or ours. If you provide the vehicle we come to your location saving you downtime and inconvenience and at no extra cost (if your vehicle is within a 30km radius of Civic).

Training is provided in sessions of a minimum of 2 hours. A record of training is kept on each student and feedback is provided during and on completion of each session.

Training and Licence Assessment is offered in the following ACT licence classes:

ACT Licence Class

Light Rigid (LR) Truck or Bus

Prerequisite: Be at least 18 years of age and have had a minimum of 12 months C class (car licence) driving experience.

LR licence allows:

A motor vehicle with a GVM over 4.5 tonne, but not over 8 tonne.
A motor vehicle with a GVM not over 8 tonne that is constructed or equipped to seat more than 12 adults (including the driver).
A motor vehicle that is towing a single trailer with a GVM not over 9 tonne.

However, this class does not cover a motor vehicle that is towing:

2 or more trailers; or
A single trailer with a GVM over 9 tonne.

Medium Rigid (MR) Truck or Bus

Prerequisite: Be at least 18 years of age and have had a minimum of 12 months C class (car licence) driving experience.

MR licence allows:

A motor vehicle with 2 axles and a GVM over 8 tonnes.
A motor vehicle that is towing a single trailer with a GVM not over 9 tonne.

However, this class does not cover a motor vehicle that is towing:

2 or more trailers; or
A single trailer with a GVM over 9 tonne.

Heavy Rigid (HR) Truck or Bus

Prerequisite: Be at least 19 years of age and have had a minimum of 24 months C class driving experience.

HR licence allows:

A rigid motor vehicle with 3 or more axles and a GVM over 8 tonne.
An articulated bus with 3 or more axles and a GVM over 8 tonne.
A motor vehicle that is towing a single trailer with a GVM not over 9 tonne.

However, this class does not cover a motor vehicle that is towing:

2 or more trailers; or
A single trailer with a GVM over 9 tonne.

Heavy Combination (HC) Truck

Prerequisite: Be at least 19 years of age and have had a minimum of 12 months MR or HR class driving experience.

HC licence allows:

A prime mover to which is attached a single semitrailer plus any unladen converter dolly.
A rigid motor vehicle to which is attached a trailer with a GVM over 9 tonne plus any unladen converter dolly.
