Preparation for obtaining your ACT Truck and/or Bus Licence/s


Where do I start if I need a licence to drive the school bus/company truck?


If you meet the above requirements you must pass a Road Law Knowledge Assessment (RLKA) prior to commencing your driver training (see notes).

Once you have passed your RLKA you must pass a practical driving assessment which will include: All competencies, for each of the above classes, are detailed in the ACT Heavy Vehicle Drivers' Handbook. Copies of the Handbook are also available from all ACT Shopfronts.

    The cost for sitting the assessment is $40 (as at April 2015).

  3. Prior to sitting the Knowledge Assessment, you can go on-line at Road Ready and follow the links to Heavy Vehicle Practice Test and practice the assessment before attempting the theory assessment at Road Ready.
